Jim, originally from California, spent his formative years working in and around the fairgrounds, fostering a profound love for horses. Through this hands-on experience, he developed a keen understanding of the therapeutic bond between humans and horses. Following a distinguished 23-year career in the US Army, Jim retired with a deep respect for both active service members and veterans. Drawing from his military background and passion for equines, Jim is uniquely positioned to facilitate sessions where veterans and horses collaborate, creating a mutually beneficial environment for healing and growth.
Tammy's genuine care and concern for our service members and veterans stem from personal experiences; not only is she married to a service member, but she has also served herself. Having dedicated herself to both her country and her profession, Tammy has served as a mental health counselor in various crucial roles aimed at bolstering the mental health of service members, veterans, and first responders. Tammy offers invaluable support and relief for combat trauma, military sexual traumas (MSTs), depression, anxiety, and issues related to transition by helping you focus on goal setting and forward movement into your authentic, happy self.
James enlisted in the Navy from Georgia in 2005, dedicating seven years of service, including a deployment to Afghanistan with the 3rd Marines. Following his medical retirement from the Navy, he relocated to Texas. As a combat veteran, James possesses a profound desire to assist fellow veterans in discovering peace and serenity through equine therapy. With three years of experience as an intermediate rider, he actively supports the progression of riders from novice to beginner, all while pursuing his own ongoing education in horsemanship.
Scott joined the Navy at 31 years old out of Yucaipa, California. He has been active duty since 2016 and plans to do 20 years. He is currently a weapons instructor at Master at Arms "A" School at Lackland AFB. He is an intermediate rider that has been riding since 2020. Scott loves helping others who also deal with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues and strongly feels that if you're an animal lover, working with horses is the best way to do that.
After graduating from high school in 2007, Alysha embarked on her journey with the US Air Force, where she has served for 16 years as an Active-Duty Military Training Instructor and Paramedic. With combat deployments under her belt, including one to Africa, Alysha's dedication to service is unwavering. Throughout her life, Alysha has harbored a deep love for horses, a passion that has persisted since childhood. Overcoming challenges such as PTSD and anxiety, Alysha discovered solace and purpose through our organization, eventually fulfilling her lifelong dream of owning a horse.
Mike joined the Air Force in 2007. He served two combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan before transitioning to the USAF Reserves after 11 years active duty. Mike found horses and their therapeutic qualities after years of struggling with mental health. Now he serves his veteran community by providing basic horsemanship instruction and fellowship.
